First, we need to know how long this recipe will take so we can calculate our time in the kitchen. Preparing the famous doughnuts will take approximately one hour or a little longer, depending on the technique. It can also take an hour and 15 minutes, but not much more. What ingredients do we need? If we're planning for ten people, we should have the following on hand: two eggs, 750 grams of flour, 200 grams of sugar, 250 milliliters of whole milk, 100 milliliters of olive oil, a packet of yeast, 60 milliliters of anise, grated lemon zest, salt, sunflower oil for frying, and more sugar for coating.

Doughnuts are very common during Holy Week

The first step in this preparation is to take a bowl and break the eggs into it, then add the sugar. We begin to beat until the mixture whitens and the volume increases. Then we add a little salt, the good oil, the anise, the lemon zest, and the milk. And we continue beating well.

The second step consists of mixing half of the flour with the yeast and then adding it to the other mixture. Then we add the remaining flour to form a thick dough, one that is difficult to stir.

The third step is to pour the dough onto a surface and stir it until it reaches a good consistency. If we achieve this, we let it rest for approximately ten minutes, covering it with a clean cloth.

The fourth step is to form the doughnut shapes. You can play around here a bit. Then, the simplest part: heat sunflower oil in a pan over low heat and insert the doughnuts, ensuring they are golden brown on both sides. Once done, place them on a paper towel to remove excess fat and, while still warm, coat them with sugar.

Note: The doughnuts are best eaten cold.
