Rosemary has neuroprotective properties due to a component known as carnosic acid, present in the leaves of this plant. Neuroprotective compounds prevent neuron death and degeneration. In other words, they delay the neurodegenerative processes associated with diseases such as Alzheimer's. Research is continuing into rosemary's ability to prevent these types of brain diseases.
Furthermore, this herb also contains bioactive compounds and phytocompounds with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant benefits, among others.
Finally, we can consume rosemary daily, as long as we do not overindulge and follow the daily doses recommended by experts. A possible excess and/or intoxication with this plant can lead to stomach problems such as vomiting, gastroenteritis, and bloating.
The amounts vary depending on how we consume this herb. If we consume it as an infusion, we can take between 2 and 4 grams a day accompanied by about 150 ml of water. The nebulized dry extract, that is, as a condiment, should be between 0.3 and 2 grams. The situation changes if we consume it as a fluid extract diluted in water, which allows up to 30 drops spread out three times a day.
